Shagun is 11 years old and the eldest amongst the three siblings. She loves to play Ludo with her sisters. She likes going to school and her favorite subject is mathematics. Unfortunately, at a very young age she lost her father in a road accident in 2016. Shagun’s mother abandoned the family and left her children with their grandparents.
Shagun and her younger sisters are now living in village Tibra, Ghaziabad. Her grandfather works as a barber. However the family doesn’t have any fixed source of income.
Her grandfather, Brijpal said `Sahgun has been facing difficulty with breathing for the past 4-5 years, when I took her to the doctor he told me she has a Congenital Heart Defect’.
Her grandfather took her for a health camp organized by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) where she was screened and referred to Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad. Shagun was examined by a cardiologist and was advised to undergo certain routine investigations. Fortis Foundation and Religare decided to support her treatment.
