Sahil Fayaz is a 5 year old boy from Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir. He has 3 elder siblings and stays with his parents Mr. Noor Din and Ms. Meema. His father is a laborer who earns 2500 rupees per month. Noor Din periodically seeks financial help from his elder brother to meet his basic household expenses.
Sahil is the youngest child in the family. He had acute chest congestion since birth. The doctors and parents initially thought he was suffering from a respiratory problem. For two years Sahil was given medication for irregular breathing, cough and cold. It was only after two years when Sahil got an Echocardiographic test after which the family came to know that Sahil was suffering from a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect).
The doctors at the Kashmir hospital recommended a corrective heart surgery for Sahil. Since the family could not afford this treatment, they were asked to visit Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram and consult a Pediatric Cardiologist.
Sahil had a successful surgery on 5th March 2018. The surgery was supported by Rotary Club of Delhi Midwest, Radha Mohan Mehrotra Medical Relief Trust and Fortis Foundation.
The surgery was led by Dr. Vijay Agarwal (Chief Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon) and his team.
