Ruksar is a 17 year old girl who was born in Aligarh. She loves to read story books at night.Ruksar has 3 siblings whom she is extremely attached to. Her father Md. Riyazuddin is a daily wage laborer who earns 300 rupees per day. He is the single source of income in his family. Their financial condition is extremely poor.
Ruksaar often complained of chest pain. Post a medical examination she was detected with Congenital Heart Defect. The family became aware of Ruksaar’s heart condition when she was thirteen years old. Ruksar had her first surgery in 2015 in Kanpur. After this surgery, the doctors advised the family to visit a Government hospital in Delhi for better medical services. Due to a financial crisis they couldn’t travel. Finally the family visited Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) after getting reference from a doctor in Aligarh.Ruksar came to FMRI and was treated by Dr. Sandeep Attawar in 2015.She got her 2nd procedure i.e. balloon dilatation on 26th March 2015. She had her third procedure for Mitral Valve Replacement on 7th December 2017 and was treated by Dr. Vijay Agarwal. The surgery was supported by Fortis Foundation and RMMMRT.
Ruksar had a successful surgery. Her mother Sitara says ` My husband and I both had a surgery in the last one year for kidney stone. We did not have money at all to get our daughter treated. I am happy that now my girl is fine and will get married to someone without any difficulties’.
