Ritika belongs to village Srimadhopur, Sikar in Rajasthan. She is extremely friendly and lively. On meeting her she will talk to you as if she has known you for years and likes to play with everyone who meets her. Her vibrant smile and her mischievous eyes reflect her enthusiasm. Her parents got married at a very young age in 2014. Ritika’s father Brij Mohan (28 year) is studying for the B. Ed examination and wants to teach in the local village school. He earns a living by working on a construction site when he is not studying. He earns barely Rs. 3000 per month with which he takes care of his family of 3, including his mother. His wife Sushila (25 year) originally belonged to Kotputli and has studied till class 12. She moved to Srimadhopur after marriage.
Finding out about the problem/symptoms
The doctor had informed the family that Ritika had been suffering from a Congenital Heart Defect since birth. When she was 4 months old she had high fever, cough & cold. At that time her family consulted a doctor in a local hospital, who in turn referred her toa private hospital in Jaipur. The doctor advised a surgery for Ritika but she was physically weak so she was put on medication and advised to build an appetite. In March 2017 she fell sick again and her doctor suggested she visit a Pediatric Cardiologist in Fortis Escort Hospital, Jaipur. The family visited Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur on 20th March 17. Ritika was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus with Dilated LA/LV. Fortis Escorts approached Fortis Foundation who has been supporting treatment for children who suffer from Congenital Heart Defect under its program called- AANHCAL. Fortis Foundation immediately agreed to fully support Ritika’s treatment.
Diagnosis & Treatment
Fortis Foundation facilitated PDA Device Closure for Ritika as advised by Fortis doctors at Jaipur. Ritika had a surgery on 4th April 2017.
