Puja is 11 years old. She lives with her 3 siblings, parents and grandparents in Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh. Puja spends most of her free time playing with her siblings and watching TV. She also studyes in the local school in class 6. Her father, Parmeshwar is a labourer and he gets a daily wage which is not regular.
Puja’s parents found out about her congenital heart defect a few years ago when she visited a local doctor. She was put on medication as her family could not afford treatment for the surgery. However, her family regularly went to organisations to find out about financial support for her. One day they found out that Fortis Hospital, Raipur has a program for treating underprivileged children free of cost. They came for consultation to the hospital and the doctor advised them to have an echo. After checking the echo report the doctor advised Puja to have an ASD device closure which was successfully done in July 2017
Puja came for a follow up in August 2017. She was shy but quite happy to play with balloons with the other children waiting. Pujas parents were extremely happy that her treatment was finally completed.
