Nishu is a 17-years old. He lives in Rewari, Haryana. He is an extremely intelligent boy and has just given his class 12th board examinations. He is now preparing for IAS. He doesn’t play outside much as he feels extremely weak. He has 2 siblings and his father, Naresh, is an Electrician and works in a shop.
Nishu was born in a government hospital and his parents were told by the doctor he didn’t have much chance of survival as he was suffering from a heart defect. For years his father searched for medical treatment at different hospitals in Rewari, Rohtak and even Jaipur. Finally, they were advised to go to AIIMS in Delhi. In 2006 they visited AIIMS Hospital and were told that Nishu needs valve replacement surgery. After waiting for another 2 years Nishu underwent a surgery in 2008. He was told to have regular follow-ups and his parents were asked to arrange Rs.1 lakh for the next surgery. This was unaffordable so Naresh contacted several neighbors who advised them to go to Vardaan hospital in Rewari. There they met Dr. Batra who guided them to Fortis Foundation.
Nishu and his father came to Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurgaon on 14th May, 2018. A detailed evaluation revealed that the Nishu required aortic valve replacement. His surgery was led by Dr. Vijay Agarwal (Chief Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon) and Dr. Swati Gareka (Senior Pediatric Cardiologist).
Fortis Foundation and RMMMRT supported his surgery.
